In Memory of Peter Newman-Roper

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peter Newman-Roper.

Peter had been involved in musical theatre for over thirty years and had taken many principal roles.  CAOS first met Peter when he accepted an invitation to play the part of "Big Jule" in our production of Guys and Dolls in 2009.  Since then he took a very active part in the society, playing a variety of roles in our productions including Hello Dolly, Pirates of Penzance, and most recently in 2012 the part of "Daddy Brubeck" in Sweet Charity.

Peter had an amazing bass voice which he used to bring a great deal of pleasure to both his audience and fellow cast.  We will remember with affection, among others, his renditions of "Ol' Man River" and "Stars".

There will be a funeral at 10am on Thursday 13th February at St Phillips Church, Highbury, Cosham, followed by cremation at Portchester at 11.30. Afterwards there will be a reception at St. Phillips Church.

Peter was a larger than life character and had made his home in Portsmouth with his wife Tina. They were married in April 2011. Peter is survived by his wife Tina, and leaves family both in Portsmouth and in Nottingham.
